Mobile video shopping network MikMak, from founder and CEO Rachel Tipograph, former global director of digital & social media at Gap, has reimagined infomercials into entertaining 30-second snippets. Users watch and shop brief informational videos dubbed ‘minimercials’ hosted by improv comedians and online personalities.
Merchandise featured in shopping segments is priced under $100 and includes accessories, beauty products, jewelry, gadgets and home goods. To keep the shopping experience simple, MikMak does not offer apparel and deal with sizing. Shoppers can browse by item category, featured lists, brands or video host. Purchases are made directly through the app.
New shoppable videos are released nightly at 9PM EST. MikMak recently debuted branded content with companies including GE, American Express and Oxygen allowing for sponsored posts within the app’s feed. With a fresh new take on the jingle, we can’t help but do the MikMak.
